MASH

Raising a Glass to MAS*H

All right MASHers, you know what today is

It’s the day we reach for the good glasses. The ones B.J. and Hawkeye kept hidden in the footlocker.

It’s the day we listen just a little closer to the wind, waiting to hear the familiar, heavy thud of the choppers coming over the ridge.

We don’t need a calendar to tell us why this show still matters. For over half a century, the 4077th hasn’t just been a place on a map or a set on a Hollywood backlot.

It has been a sanctuary.

When the real world gets too loud, too heavy, or too chaotic, we know exactly where to go. We walk through the double doors of the Mess Tent. We sit on the edge of a cot in the Swamp. We stand by the surgical scrub sinks, listening to the banter that covered up the heartbreak.

Today, we honor the brilliance of the writers who made us laugh through our tears. We honor the actors who didn’t just play characters, but became our friends, our mentors, and our family. We honor the real-life doctors, nurses, and soldiers whose sacrifices inspired the stories we hold so dear.

From Trapper’s mischievous grin to Winchester’s booming classical music… From Henry Blake’s fishing bucket hat to Sherman Potter’s beloved horse, Sophie… From Father Mulcahy’s quiet prayers to Margaret Houlihan’s fierce, unwavering strength.

They taught us that you can survive the darkest parts of humanity as long as you hold onto your humor, and more importantly, hold onto each other.

So, pour yourself a perfectly dry martini. Put on a little Mozart or some Glenn Miller. And raise your glass to the finest, craziest, and most beautiful mobile army surgical hospital the world has ever known.

Here’s to the 4077th. Best care anywhere. Today, and forever.
